22 August 2006 Yellow Pages buys New Zealand tourism website
Yellow Pages has bought the tourism directory website New Zealand
Tourism Online (NZTO) and backpacker travel insurance provider, for an undisclosed fee.
The website has listings of over 12,000 companies in New Zealand,
providing information on accommodation, attraction, tours and
transport.
NZTO also offers other services for visitors, including World Nomads
backpacker travel insurance for holidaymakers or those on a gap
year.
Dudley Enoka, Yellow Pages' general manager, anticipates that the
Deal will result in increased traffic for both NZTO and the websites it lists.
"The result for New Zealanders will be the best of NZTO combined with the best of Yellow Pages Group ? elite tourism marketing with the enormous popularity of Yellow Pages."
"The Yellow Pages Group print directories are at the heart of so many kiwi businesses," he said, "our goal is to supplement this by giving every business an online presence, with a listing that provides rich information for their customers."
Yellow Pages is part of the Telecom group in New Zealand and produces
18 regional and 22 local print directories annually, in addition to its online listings.
