07 December 2006 Travellers given insurance tips
Travellers heading abroad wanting to ensure they're properly protected on their travels have been given a list of tips to consider when purchasing their policy, such as backpacker travel insurance.
New Zealand-based 1 Cover Travel Insurance advices travellers to make sure they pay attention to value for money, rather than merely price when buying their cover.
It adds that holidaymakers should check what attention they would receive in emergencies and what is included as standard, as well as checking the overall underwriter of the firm.
The company also recommends getting a policy suited to your specific needs, such as gap year travel insurance or other specific options.
"Look for a company which provides a range of covers, including NZ [New Zealand] only travel policies, backpacker, group or duo options, long stay, one way or gap insurance and more," the company reports.
Sainsbury's Bank recently reported that over 100,000 Britons are intending to travel to Australia or New Zealand over Christmas.
