01 December 2006  Students get Amazon rainforest adventure opportunity
Students wanting an adventure trip for their spring holidays, including those with gap year travel insurance, are being offered the chance to travel to the Amazon rain forest in Peru.

Travel firm Green Tracks is publicising its trip to the Peruvian lower Amazon next spring, offering a combination of "comfortable accommodation" and the opportunity to explore the plant and animal life of the area.

The company said: "This is an exciting opportunity to visit an exotic locale, experience Amazonian culture, learn rainforest ecology with expert biologists and have plenty of fun!"

Expert tropical biologist Dr Edward Pivorun and zoologist Bill Lamar will be leading the trips with the help of a number of local guides.

Backpacker travel insurance provider Norwich Union reported last year that 42 per cent of Britons would be interested in an adventure holiday including rainforest canopy walking and camping in the jungle.
