21 April 2006  High altitude adventures
Backpackers heading to New Zealand looking for adventurous ways to utilise their backpacker travel insurance, will be able to stay in the country's first ever, high altitude hostel.

The newly developed Snow Park in the town of Wanaka has seen around £1,700,000 invested in slope modifications and new facilities, including a new bar and restaurant and the 44 bed, high altitude backpacker hostel, Ropeways.net reports.

For travellers with a full backpacker travel insurance policy, the ski and snowboarding facilities on the mountain have been improved, with increased snow-making capacity and improvements in the beginner and intermediate snow parks for boarders and skiers wanting to practise their freestyle tricks.

The new improvements mean backpackers can make the most of their travel insurance and enjoy the mountain all throughout June, July and August.

Travellers can get to Snow Park by daily shuttle bus from Queenstown and the slopes are open daily from 9:00 to 16:00 local time.
